President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) from the Ministry of Works to the Presidency.
The President gave directive on Thursday during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, stating that the move was to enhance coordination and execution of key legacy infrastructure projects, particularly the Lagos-Calabar and Sokoto-Badagry Super Highways.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, confirmed the development while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Idris explained that the relocation of OSGoF is to streamline geospatial data management and enable closer presidential oversight of national mapping and land administration efforts.
While no further details were given, the move is seen as part of the administration’s broader reform strategy and reflects its growing emphasis on geospatial intelligence in national planning, infrastructure development, and security architecture.
