President Bola Tinubu has approved the inclusion of the construction of the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti and Aramoko–Ijero–Ifaki Ekiti roads in the 2026 budget of the Federal Government.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti by Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser on Media to Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
According to Oyebode, a letter confirming the presidential approval “has since been forwarded from the Office of the President to the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr David Umahi. The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, was also copied.”
He added that “when constructed, the two newly approved roads will further ease travelling, enhance connectivity across different parts of the country, boost commercial activities and open up the state to greater economic opportunities and development.”
Oyebode explained that the approval followed a visit by Governor Oyebanji and the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday, November 9, 2025, during which the condition of federal roads in the state was discussed.
He noted that there had been growing public outcry and misinformation about the poor state of some federal roads in Ekiti, especially the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti Road.
Oyebode further stated that the Tinubu administration had earlier awarded contracts for three other federal roads in the state, including the Akure–Ikere–Ado Ekiti and Ifaki–Oye–Ikole–Omuo Ekiti roads, with contractors already mobilised to site.
Meanwhile, the Oyebanji administration has completed the Ado–Iworoko–Ifaki Road alongside several other inter-city and intra-city road projects over the last three years.
According to the statement, Governor Oyebanji, on behalf of the people of Ekiti, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu “for his strategic intervention in the socio-economic and infrastructure development of Ekiti State, as well as other support provided for the state.”
Oyebode reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to citizens’ welfare, adding that it would continue to partner with the Federal Government, private sector stakeholders, and development agencies to advance Ekiti’s growth and development agenda.
