Ijoba Imole, as the administration of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke is fondly called, has indeed brought light to Osun State. True to its name, Imole, meaning “light” the government has brightened every sector of the state with visible development, impactful governance, and people-oriented policies.
One of the flagship projects under his watch is the ongoing dualization of the Ila-Orangun township road, a major infrastructure initiative designed to boost economic activities in Igbomina land. The project is expected to open up access to agricultural belts and tourist destinations, enhancing trade and movement within the region.
The Governor has consistently emphasized that infrastructural renewal remains a key part of his broader development plan, one that seeks to connect every part of Osun for easier movement of goods, services, and people.
Restoring Trust and Dignity in Governance
Since assuming office, Governor Adeleke has prioritized the welfare of workers and pensioners. His recent approval for the payment of another half salary, which was part of the backlog inherited from APC administrations, is one in a series of efforts to restore confidence in government.
By addressing salary and pension arrears dating as far back as 2016, the governor has demonstrated empathy and a deep understanding of the struggles of civil servants. His actions have revived morale within the state workforce, earning him commendation from labor groups and residents alike.
Infrastructure and Grassroots Empowerment
Beyond the Ila-Orangun road project, the Adeleke administration has embarked on the construction of 20 kilometers of roads across the state, ensuring accessibility to even the most remote communities. The resumption of the Osogbo–Ikirun–Kwara boundary road, previously abandoned, has also been widely applauded for easing transportation and boosting commercial activity.
In a further move to promote community development, the governor recently presented ₦518 million to 40 communities to support local infrastructural projects. The initiative empowers residents to determine and address their own developmental priorities — a model that fosters inclusiveness and accountability.
Improving Health and Social Welfare
Healthcare has been another area of visible impact. Through the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach, over 18,000 residents across Osun’s nine federal constituencies have received free medical treatment, including surgeries for cataracts, hernia, and other conditions. The outreach also provided care for chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
Additionally, 3,000 Osun indigenes have been enrolled under the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) to ensure continued access to affordable healthcare.
Clean water projects have also taken center stage, with portable borehole water provided in all 333 wards across the state , a major milestone toward improving public health and hygiene.
Lighting Up Rural Communities
Rural electrification remains a priority under Adeleke’s leadership. Several communities have benefited from the distribution of transformers and power materials, ending years of darkness. In Iwo, the reconstruction of the Bokusoro/Adeeke bridge has not only improved mobility but also prevented further loss of lives caused by erosion.
Driving Osun into the Digital Future
Determined to prepare Osun for the modern economy, Governor Adeleke has launched multiple initiatives under the state’s Tech Revolution Agenda. These include a Tech Innovation Policy, ICT Policy, and the Osun Google Mapping Project, all designed to position the state as a hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion.
A Call for Continuity
Observers and residents alike have described Governor Adeleke’s first term as one marked by inclusion, transparency, and a people-first approach. From workers’ welfare to infrastructure and health, his administration has touched lives in tangible ways.
As Osun moves closer to another election season, many citizens believe that continuity is key to sustaining these gains.
Governor Ademola Adeleke’s record of performance speaks for itself , it is a blend of compassion, competence, and commitment to service.
For many in Osun, the Imole (light) he promised is not just a slogan; it is a reality illuminating every part of the state.
