The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned electricity disruption expected to last for more than two weeks in several parts of Abuja.
According to the company, the interruption will occur between Tuesday, October 28, and Sunday, November 16, due to road construction activities being carried out by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) along the Kuje axis.
TCN’s spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the development would affect the 132-kilovolt Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo double-circuit transmission line, resulting in temporary suspension of bulk power supply to some areas within the Federal Capital Territory.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, wishes to inform the public that there will be power outages in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory, as the Federal Capital Development Authority will commence road construction works along the Kuje axis from Tuesday, 28th October, to 16th November, 2025. The construction work will affect the 132 kV Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo double-circuit transmission line.
“In view of this, TCN will undertake a planned load management operation that will involve temporary interruption of power within the working hours for the road construction to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
“The planned outage will be executed in three phases to enhance seamless operations. The first phase is scheduled to commence from Tuesday, 28th October, to Sunday, 2nd November, 2025, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 pm daily. The second phase will take place from 6th November to 9th November 2025 between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm daily, while the third phase will take effect from 12th November to 16th November 2025 between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm daily.
“However, TCN assures that during this period, the following areas within the FCT, namely Apo, Lokogoma, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, and Idu Industrial Layout, will experience temporary power interruption, while normal power supply will be restored to the affected areas at the end of each day’s work period,” the statement added.
The company urged residents of the affected communities to take note of the schedule and bear with the temporary inconvenience as the work is necessary to ensure safety and infrastructure improvement in the area.
