The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the recruitment of an additional 1,000 operatives for the Ogun State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps).
The Corps Commander, Alade Adedigba, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the recruitment was part of the state government’s strategic efforts to strengthen security across communities.
Adedigba explained that the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to consolidating gains already recorded in crime prevention, rapid response operations and intelligence-driven policing at the grassroots.
He added that the latest recruitment follows the enlistment of nearly 1,300 new operatives into the corps in the previous year.
“Consequent upon the approval of His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the Ogun State Security Network Agency (Ogun Amotekun Corps) announces the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise of an additional 1,000 personnel as part of deliberate efforts to reinforce community-based security operations across the state,” he said.
According to him, the new operatives are expected to strengthen the operational capacity of the corps across the state’s 20 local government areas, particularly in rural communities, border corridors and other vulnerable flashpoints requiring enhanced surveillance and rapid intervention.
He added that the move aligns with the corps’ objective of building a disciplined, professional and community-oriented security outfit that complements other security agencies in maintaining peace and public order.
Adedigba said interested applicants are invited to submit their applications free of charge through the agency’s official website, noting that the application window will run from February 26 to March 13, 2026.
He added that a screening exercise for shortlisted applicants would take place between March 23 and April 8, 2026.
The corps commander emphasised that the recruitment process would be merit-based, transparent and free, warning members of the public against falling victim to fraudsters demanding payment in connection with the exercise.
Abiodun had last year July, approved the recruitment of 550 operatives of the Amotekun Corps
Speaking during their passing-out held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu, the governor, represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the recruitment aligns with his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
The governor said that the addition of 550 operatives to the State Security Network Agency is in line with his administration’s sustained investment and commitment to protecting the lives and property of every citizen.
He stated, “This move is in addition to the earlier employment of 690 operatives barely six months ago into the agency with a view to further bolster the state’s security framework”.
