Former Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, has surrendered himself to the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja after being accused of raping a 13-year-old secondary school student.

Blueprint reports that the case was going forward despite efforts by prominent indigenes of Adamawa state to discourage the parent of the minor from pursuing the matter.

Our correspondent reports that parents of the minor told journalists that a former lawmaker and governorship candidate had visited their home to plead with them not to disclose the scandal.

They further alleged that after the incident, which reportedly took place on June 29, 2025, at Abbo’s residence in Katampe, Abuja, former lawmaker had repeatedly sent money to the victim’s father in an attempt to suppress the matter.

Efforts to confirm the level of investigation from the police at the time of filling this report was unsuccessful as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, was yet to respond to mesaage sent to him by our correspondent.

Senator Abbbo was in the news in 2019 following a viral video emerged showing him assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja.
