Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has named four players the club should sign for manager Ruben Amorim in the summer transfer window.
Man United need to bolster Amorim’s squad in the summer in a bid to compete for the Premier League title next season. Amorim’s side currently sits outside of the Premier League top 10 in the standings this season.
Speaking ahead of Man United’s UEFA Europa League clash with Lyon on Thursday, Ferdinand urged the Red Devils to sign the likes of Adam Wharton, Victor Osimhen, Matheus Cunha, and Jeremie Frimpong.
“I agree with Gary Neville that they need five players, I think they need four or five players but they will be constrained by [Profit and Sustainability Rules],” Ferdinand said on his Presents Show.
“I want a centre midfielder to play alongside [Manuel] Ugarte; that player needs to be able to take the ball and transfer it through to Bruno [Fernandes] and the strikers. And you know who I’d go for? Adam Wharton.”
He added: “We need [Victor] Osimhen. We need experience. We need someone who knows how to score.
“Another one I’d go and buy is Cunha. He has made it clear that he wants to leave, so I’d go and get Cunha.
“You know who else I’d go and get? [Jeremie] Frimpong at right wing-back.”
