The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has launched a major recruitment exercise for 50,000 Police Constables following directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s wider strategy to reinforce community policing, enhance internal security and increase personnel capacity across the police force. The Commission has confirmed that eligible Nigerians can begin submitting applications through an online portal.
The PSC highlighted that the recruitment drive comes after a nationwide security emergency was declared on 26 November 2025, directing the Police and Armed Forces to expand their workforce to address escalating insecurity.
According to the Commission, “The PSC, in collaboration with the NPF is pleased to announce the commencement of recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Nigeria Police Force, as directed by President Bola Tinubu. Following this Presidential directive aimed at strengthening community policing, enhancing internal security and expanding the manpower base of the Nigeria Police Force, the Commission has approved the opening of the recruitment portal for applications from eligible Nigerians.”
For the General Duty cadre, “applicants are required to possess GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or equivalent qualifications with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.”
For the Specialists cadre, “applicants must possess a minimum of four credits, including English and Mathematics, also in no more than two sittings, and must have at least three years of experience and relevant trade test certifications.”
Applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens by birth
- Be aged 18–25 years for General Duty and 18–28 years for Specialists
- Be medically, physically and psychologically fit
- Meet a minimum height requirement of 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women (General Duty only)
- Satisfy all additional requirements listed on the recruitment portal
Applications must be submitted online via: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng from 15 December 2025 to 25 January 2026.
The Commission stressed that the recruitment process will be free of charge and merit-based, warning against fraud and unauthorised payments. Complete guidelines and the portal link will be available on 15 December on the PSC and NPF official websites and social media platforms.
The PSC encouraged all qualified Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation and contribute to strengthening national security.
