As Osun State awaits Governor Ademola Adeleke’s announcement regarding the political party under which he will contest the 2026 gubernatorial election, it is important for us to learn around the basis upon which leaders should be evaluated.
Electoral decisions should prioritize character, performance, and personal qualities rather than party affiliation alone. Governor Adeleke widely known as Imole, meaning “light” is a leader whose charisma and human-centered style have left an impression on many residents across the state. I can boldly say his administration has delivered programs and initiatives that, in their view, have brought relief and optimism to various communities.
His governance approach has put smiles which is another good reason why he should be reelected come 2026.
A recurring theme in public discussions is the concern that Nigerian voters frequently prioritize political party structures over individual merit.
Some citizens feel this pattern can hinder progress, as party platforms may shift, fracture, or change over time, while a leader’s personal integrity and character positive or negative tend to remain constant. The metaphor often expressed is that political parties may come and go like “soldier go, soldier come,” but the qualities of a person stand the test of time.
In this context, when a politician experiences internal party disagreements or transitions, the focus should remain on their personal track record and leadership style rather than on political labels.
The phrase “Imole lekan si” (“Light once more”) is an expression of sentiment toward his leadership.
I am just urging the good people of Osun state to look beyond party and vote for personality.
Let’s join hands together to return Gov Ademola Adeleke for second term.
