The Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven persons over the theft of goods valued at ₦20.45 million from a commercial shop in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The command said three of the suspects were employees of the shop, while the remaining four were alleged receivers of the stolen items.
Those arrested were identified as Oyineke Joseph, a storekeeper; Abioye Yusuf, a computer operator; Abdullahi Quadir; and the alleged receivers, Micheal Njoku, Agu Monday and Ikuemehin Oloruntimilehin.
A driver identified as Ojewuyi was also implicated in the operation.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday.
According to Jimoh, the case was reported on January 3, 2026, by the shop owner, Ogunyomi Segun, who told police that some of his employees had been stealing goods from his store between 2024 and January 3, 2026.
He said the stolen items included assorted soft drinks, Trophy cans and other canned beverages, with a total estimated value of ₦20.45 million.
“In a decisive crackdown on economic and financial crimes, the Ondo State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with a conspiracy and stealing case involving goods valued at ₦20.45 million,” the statement read.
Jimoh added that during investigation, all the suspects confessed to the crime and clearly stated the roles each of them played.
“They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation,” he said.
The police spokesperson urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities.
He reiterated the command’s resolve to rid the state of criminal activities, stressing that offenders would face the full weight of the law.
