As part of efforts towards boosting power supply and driving economic growth in Ondo state, the state government in partnership with Lincs Power Energy Solutions has launched a 5 Megawatt Independent Power Plant in Ondo city, headquarters of Ondo West local government area of the state.
Aiyedatiwa while speaking during the launch of the project which was facilitated by the Executive Director, Digital Exploration and Technical Services Galaxy Backbone, Hon. Olumbe Akinkugbe, said the project is expected to provide reliable electricity to Ondo West and its environs.
The governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Energy, Johnson Alabi, said the project is expected to revolutionize Ondo City’s economic activities by ensuring uninterrupted electricity for small businesses and industries.
He emphasized the administration’s commitment to providing ease and prosperity for the people of Ondo State through strategic investments in critical infrastructure.
According to him, the project key into the vision of the current administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa encapsulated in his “Our Ease” mantra, prioritizes the well-being and prosperity of citizens.
He said “the energy project is a key component of this vision, aimed at creating an enabling environment for economic growth, job creation, and improved quality of life”
While speaking, Akinkugbe expressed gratitude to the state governor, Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support towards achieving energy sufficiency in Ondo State.
He commended the administration’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for such transformative involvements and appealed to the people of the community to rally behind the initiative.
Akinkugbe said the launch marked the beginning of the project’s construction phase, with Lincs Power Energy Solutions pledging to deliver the project as promised. Plans are also underway to upgrade the power capacity to 20MW in the future.
He commended the administration’s commitment to fostering an enabling environment for such transformative involvements.
“This project is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s economy, attracting new businesses, and stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship.
“With the increased power supply, residents and businesses will enjoy reduced energy costs, increased productivity, and a better overall quality of life.
“As Ondo State takes this giant leap towards energy sufficiency, the people of the state can look forward to a brighter future, filled with opportunities for growth, development, and prosperity” Akinkugbe said
The representative of Linc’s Energy Solutions, the project manager, Otinniyi Adeyemi Micheal commended Aiyedatiwa for his encouragement and interest in the project.
He assured that the project would be completed within the stipulated period, saying the power capacity would be upgraded to 20 megawatts, providing reliable electricity to Ondo State and its environs.
The launch was attended by dignitaries and stakeholders, including the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo who was ably represented by the Sasere of Ondo Kingdom, High Chief Adeduro and the Osemawe in Council, The Chairman of Ondo West local government, Hon Ayo Akinfolarin, political appointees, Community leaders and women representatives.
