…Orders Immediate Profiling of Scavengers and Scrap Metal Operators
Following the recent incident that occured within Okitipupa Local Government, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, has ordered the indefinite suspension of all scavenging and scrap metal operations across the Local Government Area.
This decisive measure is aimed at addressing the growing security concerns posed by unregulated scavenging activities, often linked to itinerant individuals. The Chairman emphasized that these activities, if left unchecked, endanger public safety and critical infrastructure.
In addition, he has directed the immediate profiling of all scavengers and scrap metal operators within the LGA, in collaboration with security agencies and community leaders, to restore order and ensure accountability.
Security operatives have been mandated to strictly enforce this order, with violators facing the full weight of the law.
Residents are urged to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative as the administration takes firm steps to safeguard lives and property.
