The National Union of Okitipupa Local Government Students (NUOLGS), under the dynamic leadership of Sen. Prince Adeoye Omoleminu, paid a courtesy visit to the Area Command Headquarters of the Amotekun Corps in Okitipupa.
The visit, hosted at the Okitipupa Zone 3 Command, was in the absence of the Area Commander, A.C. Ogundana, who was ably represented by his Second-in-Command, S.A. Akindele Ebun, Superintendent of the Amotekun Corps and Head of Administration, Okitipupa LGA.
The NUOLGS leadership was warmly welcomed by the Corps’ administrative team. Following an introduction by the NUOLGS National PRO, Comr. Adegeye John Oluwafemi, the National President extended heartfelt greetings and commended the Corps for their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and security across Okitipupa Local Government. He also formally presented the Union to the Corps and outlined key areas for collaboration to enhance student safety.
This meeting solidified a mutual partnership between NUOLGS and the Amotekun Corps aimed at ensuring a safer environment for students.
In his remarks, the Corps’ 2.I.C. expressed delight in hosting the student leaders, reaffirming the Corps’ commitment to peace and security in the region. He proudly shared that the Amotekun Corps has been recognized by the United Nations as one of its peace-making agencies, with selected representatives scheduled for engagements in Egypt and Germany before the end of the year.
Highlighting their ongoing efforts, he cited OAUSTECH as an example of the Corps’ success in creating a student-friendly atmosphere. Drawing from his own background as a former student leader at the University of Ife, he assured NUOLGS of his understanding of student needs and pledged full support in times of need. He also promised to brief the Area Commander immediately upon his return from the State Capital.
In his closing remarks, the NUOLGS President expressed deep appreciation to the Corps, describing them as “a true shield of protection for students in Okitipupa Local Government”. He reaffirmed the Union’s readiness to work hand-in-hand with the Corps for the continued safety and well-being of all NUOLGS members.
The delegation included the NUOLGS National PRO, the NUIKAS Senate President, the Vice Chairman of the National Association of University Students (Ondo State Chapter), and other student leaders.
The NUIKAS Global Senate President Dist. Sen. A.I. Akinnuoye were in attendance and also lay more emphasis on the key words of the visit.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening ties between NUOLGS and the Amotekun Corps, underscoring a proactive approach to student safety and fostering a peaceful environment for all NUOLGSites.
