National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated that the ruling party is not controlled by any governor, stressing that authority within the APC is vested in its national structure, Daily Post reports.
Speaking on the SunseT programme on Jay FM in Jos, Plateau State, Yilwatda explained that decisions taken at the state level are first planned and guided by the party’s national leadership, in line with the APC’s organisational framework.
He said the party operates strictly on structure rather than personal interests, noting that no single individual wields control over the APC.
“Across the country, no one can take over any section of the party. Whatever is done at the state level is planned at the national level. That is how the APC works. We follow structure, not sentiments or emotions,” he said.
Yilwatda added that neither governors, senators, local government chairmen, nor even the national chairman himself has absolute control over the party.
To prevent internal crises, he said the APC deliberately avoided setting up a Board of Trustees, emphasising that the party belongs to the people.
“That is why the APC has no Board of Trustees. The people are the trustees of the APC, unlike other parties where a few individuals control the party structures. As national chairman, there is no Board of Trustees supervising me; I supervise myself,” he said.
