Lionel Messi has made it clear he hopes to return to Barcelona once the redevelopment of Camp Nou is finished.
The Inter Miami captain, who left Barcelona in August 2021 for Paris Saint-Germain before joining Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami, recently visited his former club, triggering fond memories.
Sharing a photo from inside the stadium, Messi said: “Last night I returned to a place I miss with my soul.”
In an interview with Diario Sport, the Argentine forward opened up about his desire to revisit the stadium and the city he still holds dear.
“I really want to go back to Barça stadium when it’s finished because since I left for Paris I didn’t go back to Camp Nou either, and then they went to Montjuïc. It’s going to be special, I’m sure,” Messi said.
He also spoke about his family’s connection to the city: “I really want to go back, because we miss Barcelona a lot, the children continuously, and my wife, I talk about things about Barcelona, the idea of living there again. We have our house, everything, so that’s what we want.”
