Lagos Principal, Teacher arrested for assaulting student, knocking out three teeth

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the principal and a teacher of Okota Junior Grammar School for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old student, leading to the loss of three of his teeth.

The suspects, identified as Kayode Abolarin and Atueyin Martins, were taken into custody after the victim’s mother reported the incident at the Isolo Police Division around 11 a.m. on March 11, 2025.

Confirming the arrests, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that investigations were ongoing.

“Upon receiving the report, the police promptly arrested the suspects. They are currently assisting the police in its investigations into the incident which took place on the school premises,” Hundeyin said in a statement on Tuesday.

He assured all that the case would be handled with due diligence and that justice would be served.

“The Lagos State Police Command assures Lagosians that justice will be served, as the suspects will be arraigned accordingly at the conclusion of investigations,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting residents and ensuring swift action against criminal activities.

“The command remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone and will continue to address criminal and security matters with the utmost urgency and professionalism they deserve,” he said.
