The Federal Government has confirmed that civil servants will start receiving their February salaries by the end of today, Thursday.
Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, assured that all necessary arrangements for disbursement have been completed, and payment has commenced.
According to Mokwa, the payment of February salaries will be made in full, addressing concerns about alleged shortfalls in January.
He explained that previous deductions were due to the completion of payments for the new minimum wage and other arrears, which had temporarily increased workers’ earnings from September to December 2024.
With those additional payments now concluded, civil servants will revert to their standard salary structure. Mokwa stated, “February salary payment will start trickling in today (Thursday). From Thursday, civil servants will start receiving alerts.”
From September to December 2024, civil servants were paid minimum wage and other bonus arrears which shot up their total take-home and salary budget.
“However, from Janaury, all the arrears were cleared hence they returned to their due monthly salary,” he explained.
