Iyabo Ojo Files Petition against NPF, CP Uche over VDM

Nollywood Actress Iyabo Ojo has formally petitioned Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, over serious misconduct allegedly perpetrated by officers of the Nigeria Police Force, National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) and controversial social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

The petition, dated July 29 and filed by Iyabo Ojo’s legal representatives, The Maverick Forte Legal, detailed disturbing breaches of protocol and bias during her recent interrogation at the NPF-NCC in Abuja.

The actress had honoured a police invitation over complaints filed against her by singers Naira Marley and Sam Larry regarding alleged cyberbullying and defamation.

According to the petition, during one of her interrogation sessions, VDM, a civilian and a defendant in a separate criminal case involving Iyabo Ojo as a witness, was allowed into the interrogation room.

He was allegedly seen serving himself coffee while seated with officers and complainants, a privilege the petition says no ordinary civilian enjoys. His presence was described as a gross violation of Ojo’s privacy, confidentiality, and dignity.

The petition also accuses Commissioner of Police, CP Ifeanyi Henry Uche, of having an inappropriate relationship with VDM, granting him unrestricted access to the police facility.

Iyabo Ojo’s lawyers expressed concern that sensitive conversations from her interrogation have been leaked online, allegedly by VDM.

Iyabo Ojo is requesting an independent investigation, a change of jurisdiction to Lagos, and an end to what her lawyers describe as a “biased and compromised investigation.”

She has also accused the NPF-NCC of neglecting her previous petition against VDM filed since December 2024. The actress says she will no longer honour invitations to the Abuja office due to security concerns and ongoing health issues.

Meanwhile it was previously reported that VeryDarkMan stirred controversy by leaking a WhatsApp message allegedly from Iyabo Ojo, accusing Davido of clout-chasing over Mohbad’s death.

She criticised Davido for still following Naira Marley despite supporting Mohbad.

The post sparked widespread online reactions and debate.
