In a public notice on its X account on Monday, the agency urged the public to stay vigilant as heavy rains peak across West Africa.
The Fire Service provided critical measures to adopt during and after a flood, amid heightened awareness of seasonal weather challenges.
What to do during a flood
Avoid areas subject to sudden flooding.
Do not attempt to cross rivers or flowing streams where water is above the knee.
Beware of water-covered roads and bridges.
Do not go swimming or boating in swollen rivers.
What to do after a flood
Inspect your home for structural damage.
Dry out walls and furniture quickly.
Seek medical help if unwell.
Keep children away from affected areas.
