As Osun State commemorates the third anniversary of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, Hon. Comrade James Onifade has applauded the Governor for what he describes as an era of “unprecedented progress, human-centered leadership, and visible transformation across all sectors.”
Since his assumption of office in 2022, Governor Adeleke has rolled out reforms and projects that have redefined governance in Osun State. His administration, anchored on transparency, inclusion, and development, has been praised for reviving systems that had long suffered neglect from the 12 years APC led government.
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS ACROSS MAJOR SECTORS
1. Workers’ Welfare and Economic Relief
Governor Adeleke has consistently prioritized the welfare of workers and pensioners through several landmark interventions:
– Approval of a ₦75,000 new minimum wage for workers.
– Payment of the ₦2.4 billion wage award palliative to cushion economic hardship.
– Half-salary debt paid, addressing long-standing arrears inherited from previous administrations.
– ₦70 billion pension debt settled, providing relief for senior citizens.
– 29,000 pensioners and 10,000 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) enrolled in the state’s health insurance scheme.
2. Education and Human Capital Development
Adeleke’s administration has made giant strides in repositioning the education sector:
– About 250 classrooms constructed and rehabilitated across Osun State.
– Launch of the Students’ Bursary Scheme to support undergraduates.
– Advancement of UNIOSUN Postgraduate infrastructure and support for university development.
– Actualization of the University of Ilesa, now functioning and expanding academic opportunities for Osun youths.
3. Infrastructure and Urban Development
Under Governor Adeleke, Osun State has witnessed rapid infrastructural renewal:
– 300 km of roads constructed, including rural and urban networks.
– Construction of flyovers in Osogbo and Ile-Ife, reducing congestion and improving mobility.
– Ongoing dualisation of major roads in key towns.
200 primary health centres upgraded, improving access to healthcare.
– Procurement of transmitters for state radio stations, modernizing information dissemination.
4. Health Sector Reform
Beyond the upgrading of facilities, the government has:
Expanded the Osun Health Insurance Scheme.
Improved medical staffing and essential drug supply.
Strengthened community-based health interventions.
5. Agriculture and Economic Empowerment
Governor Adeleke has also repositioned agriculture and economic development through:
– Procurement of tractors to boost agricultural mechanization.
– ₦4 billion disbursed to small businesses, supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs.
– Strengthening local content adoption with 75% local content application in infrastructure projects.
6. Governance and Modern Administrative Reforms
The governor has introduced transformative policies aimed at repositioning the state:
– State Tax Harmonization to eliminate multiple taxation and improve revenue efficiency.
– Launch of a New ICT and Digital Economy Agenda, expanding digital access and innovation.
– Introduction of a New Electricity Market Policy, enhancing power sector reforms.
– Activation of a Climate Change Agenda, placing Osun among environmentally forward-thinking states.
– Implementation of the 45 Days of Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to simplify land administration.
A Performance that deserves Continuity
Highlighting these achievements, Hon. Comrade James Onifade emphasized that the breadth of progress recorded in just three years has addressed challenges that spanned more than a decade.
According to him, many supporters, civil society groups, and community stakeholders believe that the level of development under Governor Adeleke’s administration demonstrates a strong capacity for continuity.
He noted that Sustaining the current developmental pace would ensure consolidation of the achievements already transforming Osun State.
I am using this medium to address the people of osun over the the continuity of his goodwill which will enhance his reelection in 2026 regardless of his new party, he should take the lead while we follow him without iota of hesitation.
