A helicopter has crashed into the Hudson River near Manhattan, according to the New York Police Department.
NBC News reported that four people were onboard the aircraft.
One person has been pulled from the water, though their condition remains unknown.
The New York Fire Department stated that it received a report of a helicopter in the water at 3.17pm local time (8.17pm UK time) and has deployed units to the scene to carry out rescue operations.
A witness, Avi Rakesh, told NBC News, “The chopper blade flew off. I don’t know what happened to the tail, but it just straight up dropped.”
The incident occurred in the river near the Holland Tunnel, which connects lower Manhattan with Jersey City to the west.
