Unknown gunmen on Tuesday abducted officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along Aloma Road in Kogi State.
The victims, all female staff members, were said to be travelling from Abuja to Anambra State on an official assignment when the attack occurred.
According to reports, the assailants blocked the road, opened fire on the vehicle, and shattered its windscreen. Thankfully, none of the passengers was hit by the bullets.
It was gathered that the INEC workers were on their way to Anambra for the printing of the voters’ register and other materials ahead of the governorship election scheduled for the first week of November.
The gunmen reportedly abducted everyone on board, including the driver and his wife, before fleeing the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts by Daily Post to reach the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer for comments were unsuccessful.
