Gunmen attack Delta Church, shoot pastor, kidnap worshippers

There is tension in Asagba Ogwashi, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, as gunmen invaded a church, shot a pastor, and abducted six worshippers.

Newsmen gathered that the gunmen stormed Elyon Paradise Ministry Church, Asagba Ogwashi, during a Friday night vigil.

A source said they kidnapped six church members, rounding them up and whisking them away to an unknown destination.

“They shot the pastor, cut off his fingers, and took six church members away.

“The pastor was rushed to the hospital, where several medical personnel battled to save his life.

“Till today, Sunday, the kidnappers have not called to demand a ransom for the release of the abducted victims,” the source said.

The pastor, identified as Apostle Divine Omodia, was shot by the gunmen, who also reportedly cut off two of his fingers.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident on Sunday.

He said, “Yes, it is confirmed. The incident was reported on Saturday evening. A rescue team is currently in the bush tracking the suspects.”
