The National Universities Commission (NUC) has released a warning to the public, identifying 58 universities running illegally across Nigeria. These institutions are not accredited by the federal government, meaning any degrees obtained from them are invalid and may jeopardise students’ future careers.
In a statement, the NUC emphasised:
“Anyone who obtains a certificate from these unapproved institutions does so at their own risk.”
Law enforcement agencies have been alerted to take action against the operators of these fraudulent universities. The revelation comes as the commission also investigates eight other institutions suspected of offering unauthorised degree programmes.
