The NLC, Nigeria’s largest trade union federation, was formed through the merger of four labor centers and represents over 4 million workers across diverse sectors. It has been a key advocate for workers’ rights and social justice.

The organization is currently led by President Joe Ajaero and General Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja.

Despite facing two dissolutions under military rule—in 1988 and 1994—the NLC was reestablished following Nigeria’s return to democracy.
