The cost of correcting the date of birth on the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) slip has risen to N28,574, a 74.87 percent increase from the previous fee of N16,340.
This adjustment follows an upward price review recently announced by the commission. “After a decade of maintaining the same pricing structure, NIMC has conducted a comprehensive review to ensure alignment with current operational costs and industry standards,” it said on May 1.
The commission stated that the review considered the current inflation rate of 32.70 percent, and most services have been adjusted by at least 20 percent, with exceptions based on specific service peculiarities.
Here is a list of the new prices:
Premium enrollment
Those offered at licensed premium lounges, visa processing centers, and pre-booked services:
- Enrollment cost: N20,000
- NIN Slip Re-issuance (Local): N3,500
Non-premium services (regular enrolment)
Services offered by NIMC staff at all NIMC offices/special centers nationwide:
- Enrolment and issuance of 1st NIN slip: Free
- NIN slip re-issuance (Re-issuance of lost or damaged NIN slip): N600
- NIN slip self-service: N1,000
Regular modification services for Nigeria
Correction services provided at NIMC offices:
- Correction of Date of Birth (Day, Month, Year): N28,574
- Modification of any other field other than DOB per transaction (names, address, etc.): N2,000
Diaspora Services
Regular enrolment services for African countries:
- New Enrolment (Adult): $50
- New Enrolment (Child): $30
- NIN Slip Re-Issue: $6
Regular modification services for African countries

In the executive summary of the new price list, NIMC explained, “Consequently, with the DG/CEOs’ interrelated mandates to increase revenue drive, tax unification to broaden the tax net, social intervention, and new additions to our bouquet of products and services, it is pertinent that a review of the present fees and pricing be carried out.”
