A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, has emerged as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State following the party’s state congress held on Tuesday in Akure.
Babatunde and other members of the State Working Committee were returned through a consensus arrangement and affirmation by party delegates at the congress held at the International Centre for Culture and Events.
Speaking at the event, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, called on party members to maintain discipline and uphold internal democracy within the party.
The Governor described the congress as an important step toward strengthening party structures and urged members to place collective interest above personal ambition.
In his acceptance speech, Babatunde pledged to promote unity within the party and provide inclusive leadership. He said his emergence represented a collective decision of party stakeholders and promised to strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the state.
Chairman of the APC State Congress Committee, Ogonna Obiekwe, described the exercise as peaceful and commended party members for their conduct during the process.
