Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, has declared that the era of impunity in the Nigeria Police Force is over.

Addressing State House correspondents after his swearing in by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Acting IGP said the appointment came at a time he was not expecting it.

He noted that the way and manner the President was “mentioning a lot of activities about me, mentioning areas I have worked, mentioning successes I’ve recorded as a policeman, brought emotion to me, almost brought me to tears.”

According to him, it shows that the President took his time to monitor officers working everywhere in the country.

“It shows the President was throwing a challenge at me to go out there and do what I’m known for, and ensure that I bring peace, recognition to the country.”

On what his charge will be to officers and men as he resume office, he said, “I will let them know that the era of impunity is over. I will ensure that I train them and encourage them to ensure they follow human rights.
