Nollywood actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao has addressed claims linking her to the arrest of cross-dresser Bobrisky following her movie premiere in 2024.
Speaking in a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV via YouTube, Ajao explained that the controversial decision to award Bobrisky the “Best Dressed Female” at the event was purely a publicity strategy to promote her film — not an act of malice or a personal agenda.
“I gave the Best Dressed Female award to Bobrisky to promote my movie, but I didn’t know that my colleagues would react negatively to it,” she said. “I was very sad to see that my colleagues in the movie industry were upset over the decision, and I later had to call them to explain my intention.”
The actress noted that despite the backlash, her relationship with Bobrisky has remained cordial. She maintained that she had no involvement in his arrest and has continued to support him throughout the ordeal.
“I don’t have any issue with Bobrisky. He knew why he was arrested, and no matter how much I try to explain to people on social media, they won’t believe me,” she added. “Many of his friends abandoned him when he was arrested, but I stood by him and still visit him.”
Recall that The Metro had earlier reported that Bobrisky was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2024 for alleged currency mutilation and abuse of the naira.
