Legendary music icon and renowned evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi has announced plans for a modest celebration of his 84th birthday, which coincides with this year’s Good Friday.
He acknowledged that the occasion calls for deep spiritual reflection.Ebenezer Obey explained that the solemn significance of Good Friday and the entire Easter season influenced his decision to tone down traditional celebrations.
He noted that Good Friday represents sacrifice, humility, and gratitude for the redemptive work of Christ, virtues he intends to embody as he marks this milestone.
Instead of hosting a grand social event, the music legend will commemorate his birthday with a two-day crusade in Abeokuta on March 25 and 26, along with outreach programmes for the underprivileged.
He emphasized that this initiative aims to touch lives and spread the gospel, which he considers the true essence of the season.
He also expressed gratitude to God for granting him the grace to witness another year. He voiced hope for a more elaborate celebration of his 85th birthday next year “by His grace and mercy.”
While the celebration will be intentionally modest, the celebrated songwriter and evergreen music icon welcomes goodwill messages, prayers, and the customary birthday support from friends, associates, fans, and well-wishers around the world.
