Music Executive and Mavin Records founder, Don Jazzy, has described his former signee, Wande Coal, as the artist with the best vocals in the Nigerian music industry.
The veteran producer made the statement during an interactive session with fans on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
A fan had earlier praised Don Jazzy, saying he has the “best and most unique voice in the Nigerian music industry.” Responding, Don Jazzy agreed that his voice is unique but insisted that Wande Coal has the best.
He wrote, “Most unique I agree, best na Wande [Coal].”
Wande Coal, who started his career under Don Jazzy’s former label, Mo’Hits Records, is widely celebrated for his smooth and powerful vocals. His debut album, Mushin 2 Mo’Hits, released in 2009, is still regarded as one of the finest Afrobeats projects of its era.
Over the years, several stars including Wizkid, Fireboy DML, and Oxlade have cited Wande Coal as one of their biggest musical inspirations.
Don Jazzy’s remark has since stirred reactions among fans, many of whom agreed with his assessment of Wande Coal’s exceptional vocal ability.
