The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has revealed that a fake results syndicate was uncovered within the institution — a discovery that has led to the suspension of five staff members, including a Deputy Registrar.
He made this known during a press briefing in Lokoja on Wednesday, describing the development as a grave attempt to tarnish the image and integrity of the Polytechnic.
According to Professor Ogbo, the illegal operation was exposed following a joint investigation carried out by the school’s Admissions, ICT, and Security Units. The probe revealed that certain students, ex-students, and staff had been involved in forging National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates in exchange for money.
He noted that while five staff members have been suspended, some suspects, including one Dominic Egwuda, are still on the run.
“We will not allow anyone to tarnish the name of Kogi State Polytechnic. Everyone involved will face disciplinary action and legal prosecution,” he said.
The Rector reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct, stressing that the institution would not relent in upholding integrity and discipline.
“Our commitment to transparency and accountability is firm. We will keep cleaning up the system so that only genuine effort and hard work are rewarded,” he added.
