Final preparations are underway in Delta State for the coronation of the Vice President of the Nigerian Body of Benchers and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Albert Akpomudje (SAN), who will ascend the throne as the 14th Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom.

The Olomu Kingdom Traditional Council confirmed the development in a statement issued by its Secretary, John Ewenede, and made available to journalists in Warri on Tuesday.

Ewenede noted that Akpomudje, who until now served as the Otota (Traditional Prime Minister) of the Kingdom, will be formally crowned at the event, which will be followed by a grand reception at the royal palace opposite the Magistrates’ Court in Akperhe-Olomu.

Akpomudje’s rise to the throne follows the passing of the 13th Ohworode, Macaulay Ovbagbedia, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, from the Uhurhie Ruling House, whose burial rites were recently concluded.

The late monarch, a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, ascended the throne on May 20, 2023, but died in July 2025, ending what has become the shortest reign in the history of the Olomu Kingdom.

Following the completion of traditional rites, Akpomudje, as the next in hierarchy, steps into the revered stool in line with the customs of the Olomu people.
