Representative Riley M. Moore, a member of the US Congress representing West Virginia’s Second District, has criticised former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso over his position on the alleged killings of Christians in Nigeria.
Kwankwaso, responding to Nigeria’s designation as a Country of Particular Concern by President Donald Trump and the accompanying threat of military action, denied that a Christian genocide was taking place. He argued that the country’s security challenges “do not distinguish based on religious, ethnic, or political beliefs,” stressing that the unrest affects all Nigerians.
Despite this, Rep Moore took to his official X account to hold Kwankwaso accountable for the deaths of some Christians, linking them to policies enacted during his tenure.
According to the US lawmaker, Kwankwaso implemented Sharia law, which he said made blasphemy “punishable by death.”
Moore wrote: “Governor – do you care to comment on your own complicity in the death of Christians?
“You instituted Sharia law. You signed the law that makes so-called blasphemy punishable by death.”
