Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has rejected the petition seeking to recall Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the Red Chamber.
The electoral commission, in a post on its official Facebook handle, submitted that the controversial petition did not meet provisions of the 1999 Constitution as expressly stated in Section 69(a) of the Constitution.
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).”
Recall INEC had earlier stated the petition lacks essential contact details and does not meet the necessary requirements for further processing. Though the petitioners later rectified it but with this new development, the electoral umpire has thrown out the petition.
