The Bauchi State Government has named new governing council leadership and members of the state-owned university, Sa’adu Zungur University.
According to a press release issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bala Muhammed, Mukhtar Gidado, the reconstitution became necessary following the submission of the report of the Visitation Panel set up to assess the state of affairs at the university.
The statement maintained that Governor Mohammed graciously approved the reconstitution of the Governing Council of the institution explaining that “The reconstitution of the Council is in line with the administration’s unwavering commitment to repositioning the university for academic excellence, improved governance, and sustainable development.
“In a major step towards this objective, His Excellency has appointed a renowned educationist and erudite scholar, Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, as the Chairperson of the reconstituted Governing Council. Professor Abdullahi is expected to bring to her new position her wealth of experience, impeccable academic credentials, and a deep passion for higher education reform.
“Other members of the new Governing Council are Alhaji Suleiman G. Abdulkadir, Professor Isa Yashi, Professor Sabo Hamma, Professor Mohammed Babangida, Comfort Audu, Representative of Ministry of Higher Education, and Representative of the office of the Head of Civil Service, Bauchi.”
Gidado revealed that Governor Mohammed urged the new leadership of the governing council to work in collaboration with the university management and all stakeholders to reposition Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau, as a centre of excellence and innovation in tertiary education.
“Governor Mohammed congratulates Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi and other newly appointed members of the council on their well-deserved appointment and wishes them success in this important and challenging assignment,” he stated.
