Gunmen have abducted the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area of the state, Nelson Adepoyigi.

Adepoyigi, who is the chairman of APC in Ifon Ward 5 in Ose Local Government, was reportedly abducted along the Benin-Ifon-Owo expressway on Monday evening.

The police command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, said a manhunt to arrest the perpetrators had been launched.

He said, “I can confirm to you that the chairman of APC ward 5 was kidnapped at the entrance of his farm along Ifon-Owo Road.

“At the receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ifon, in collaboration with hunters, VGN and Nigeria Army personnel, launched a manhunt for the suspect(s).’’

Ayanlade urged anyone with information that could aid in the rescue operation to come forward.

He also advised the residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
