As the political atmosphere in Osun State becomes increasingly charged and citizens await Governor Ademola Adeleke’s formal declaration regarding the platform on which he will seek re-election, it has become more crucial than ever for every Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executivefrom the State Chairman down to the Ward Chairmen to remain steadfast, united, and loyal to the authentic and constitutionally recognized structure of the PDP in Osun State.
Recent developments, especially the controversies surrounding the purported governorship congress held at Adolak, raise grave concerns about a deliberate attempt to hijack the democratic process and destabilize the legitimate organs of the party. The events of yesterday where a new “gubernatorial candidate” was announced in the absence of recognised Osun PDP executives are not only disturbing but a clear warning of coordinated interference.
Reports from the venue indicate that the exercise was overwhelmingly dominated by individuals allegedly mobilised from Oyo State. Multiple buses reportedly arrived overnight and early in the morning, conveying PDP members from Oyo many of whom openly admitted they were recruited solely for the exercise.
Investigations also point toward the involvement of a zonal youth leader based in Ibadan who reportedly coordinated the mobilization, reinforcing the claim that Osun PDP stakeholders were sidelined.
Eyewitness accounts further confirmed that genuine Osun PDP members were largely absent, making it clear that the event was neither conceived by, nor intended for, the legitimate structure of the party in Osun State. Security personnel believed to have come from Oyo State were also reportedly present, and some political thugs were said to have been arrested after confessing that they were mobilised from the Oyo Government House.
Among concerned party members, this entire operation is viewed as a covert attempt allegedly linked to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State aimed at gaining strategic control within the Southwest PDP, reportedly to bolster his anticipated presidential ambition in 2027. Whether or not these allegations hold water, what is indisputable is that such manoeuvres threaten the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the Osun PDP.
These troubling actions point to one objective:
To create confusion within the Osun PDP, weaken its internal structure, and undermine the good works and stability established under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership.
A CALL TO DUTY, VIGILANCE, AND LOYALTY
To all members of the Osun PDP State Executive Committee, Local Government Executives, and Ward Executives this is a defining moment.
• Your responsibility is clear and unequivocal:
• Now is the time to stand firm.
• Now is the time to protect the mandate entrusted to you.
• Now is the time to preserve the integrity and authority of the party’s legitimate administrative structure.
• No parallel congress, no externally driven gathering, and no ceremonial announcement conducted without the participation of your legally recognized executive organs can override the authentic structure of the PDP in Osun State. Any selection or nomination conducted outside constitutional party channels is nothing more than an attempt to destabilise the party and displace active, legitimate leaders.
• Your duty is to remain resolute refusing intimidation, rejecting manipulation, and standing guard against forces determined to sabotage the unity and future of the PDP in Osun.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has ushered in unprecedented goodwill, infrastructural renewal, and progress across the state. The party’s structure must remain intact to safeguard that progress and ensure continuity for the benefit of the citizens who placed their trust in the PDP.
A TIME FOR UNITY, NOT FEAR
Those who seek to hijack the party structure understand the strength, loyalty, and legitimacy of the Osun PDP. That is precisely why they choose to operate in secrecy and attempt to bypass established organs of authority.
• Let every Ward Chairman hold the line.
• Let every Local Government officer remain vigilant.
• Let every State Executive stand boldly and uncompromisingly.
• Osun PDP must remain united. Osun PDP must remain focused. Osun PDP must remain resilient.
• The party cannot and must not be destabilised.
