First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Monday hosted the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) to an Easter Brunch at the State House, Abuja, calling on Christian youths to lead with love, compassion and unity as catalysts for national development.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Tinubu emphasised the importance of transcending religious and regional barriers in building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
“It takes sacrificial love and compassion to change the world,” the First Lady noted in a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, urging young Christians to shun judgmental attitudes and embrace inclusiveness in all aspects of their lives.
The First Lady, who has consistently championed values-driven leadership, reiterated her belief that Nigerian youth have a vital role to play in promoting gender equity and nation-building.
“There is room in this country for women who are willing to thrive,” she declared, calling on young people to become advocates for social inclusion and positive change.
The event, marking the second Easter homage by YOWICAN to the First Lady, provided an atmosphere for both celebration and meaningful dialogue.
It also served as a platform to highlight interfaith cooperation and youth involvement in the national development agenda.
Expressing the appreciation of the youth association, National Chairman of YOWICAN, Belusochukwu Enwerem, commended the First Lady for her interventions and unwavering support for youths.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the national vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging that YOWICAN would continue to work with Muslim youth organizations to deepen religious harmony and foster unity across the country.
“As a demonstration of our commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, we are launching the Renewed Hope Neighbor2Neighbor Movement,” Enwerem announced.
He further decorated the First Lady as the Grand Patron of the movement, a symbolic gesture underscoring YOWICAN’s support for her humanitarian and developmental initiatives.
In a significant gesture of encouragement, the First Lady announced the donation of seven 14-seater CNG-powered buses to YOWICAN.
The vehicles are to support the group’s evangelical and outreach efforts nationwide, further strengthening their capacity to impact lives and communities across Nigeria.
The Easter brunch, attended by Christian youth leaders from across the country, was marked by shared reflections on faith, fellowship, and national progress.
Guests dined and celebrated with the First Lady, exchanging Easter greetings and reaffirming their shared commitment to the ideals of peace, unity, and service.
