Don’t Marry A Man who says He can’t Cook – Michelle Obama

The former First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, recently shared advice on marriage.

While speaking, the accomplished author urged singles to look beyond romance and focus on practical compatibility when searching for a life partner.

“Everybody has to be able to do it all. Each person in a couple has to be able and willing to do it all,” she said, emphasising the importance of balance and teamwork.

Michelle also spoke about how support is a crucial factor when choosing a life partner, using a basketball team as a metaphor.

She said picking a partner is like picking a player for the team—it shouldn’t be just about talent and abilities, but about someone who can support the whole team.

“You don’t want to marry a man who is like, ‘I don’t cook.’ It’s like, well, what happens if I can’t cook?” she said.

Michelle, the wife of Barack Obama, also spoke about how unpredictable life can be and why it is imperative to choose someone who can step up if things get tough.

Michelle also advised women on the importance of financial stability and literacy. She emphasised how crucial it is not to rely solely on a partner for money management.

“If you’re the woman and you can’t balance the checkbook because you’ve left that to him… Life is too complicated for two partners not to be real equals in it. Find a partner who isn’t just willing to divide and conquer, but who’s capable of covering for you during life’s unpredictable moments,” she concluded in the video.
