Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will today make a public presentation of his two new books as part of activities to commemorate his 88th birthday celebrations in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The books are: Lest We Forget: Slavery, Slave Trade, Emancipation and Reparation, and Nigeria: Past and the Future.
A statement yesterday in Abeokuta by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, hinted that the ceremony would also include a public lecture on slavery and colonisation.
The Director General of the Nigerian Institute for International Affairs (NIIA), Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, will deliver the lecture, titled: Echoes of the Past, Visions of the Future: Reflections on Slavery and Colonisation, and Nigeria’s Journey Towards a Promising Future.
The celebration will include children’s performances, drama, dances, songs and goodwill messages.
His Majesty, King Mswati III, Ngwenyama of Eswatini, Royal Palace Lobamba, Eswatini, of Swaziland will be the Royal father of the Day.
