The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa has partnered with an Indian university called Sri Satya Sai University of Technology and Medical Sciences, Sehore (M.P.), India to enhance its academic excellence.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Head of Directorate of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr Paul Adeagbo, the Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the two universities of technology.
According to the statement, the partnership aimed to promote academic research and exchange programmes of the government-owned university.
The statement read, “OAUSTECH has taken a significant step in fostering international collaboration and academic excellence. The university has formalized a historic academic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held on February 28, 2025.
“This strategic alliance aims to promote academic collaboration, research cooperation, and staff and student exchange between the two institutions. The partnership is expected to enhance the academic and research experiences of students and faculty members from both universities.
“This development marks a significant milestone in OAUSTECH’s commitment to international collaboration and academic excellence.”
Meanwhile, the statement added that the management of the institution has implemented the new minimum wage for staff, with effect from February 2025. In addition to implementing the new minimum wage, the vice chancellor has also paid the outstanding arrears owed to staff.
“This move is a significant boost to staff morale, coming after months of agitation by the university’s workers for the implementation of the minimum wage award. This gesture has been hailed as a significant step towards improving staff welfare and boosting morale,” the statement noted.
The state government has approved the implementation of an N73,000 minimum wage for all civil servants in the state, while the payment began in November 2024.
