Adeleke, Oyebanji, others join ‘YorùbáDùn’ challenge on X, tweet in Yoruba

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State have joined the trending ‘YorùbáDùn’ challenge on X, showcasing their support for the promotion of the Yoruba language and culture.

Governor Adeleke, in his tweet on Thursday, expressed joy over the enthusiasm of young people in embracing the Yoruba language.

He further urged for collective efforts to uphold cultural values.

“E̩ kú ojúmọ́ gbogbo ọmọ ilẹ̀ yorùbá, Inú mií dùn láti rí bí ẹ̀yin ọ̀dọ́ ṣe ń gbé èdè yorùbá lárugẹ. Ẹ jẹ́kí áfi o̩wó̩ sowọ́pọ̀ láti gbé àsà wa láruge̩. Ní ìpínlẹ̀ Ọ̀sun, ìpínlẹ̀ o̩mo̩lúàbí, ìsewa àti àsà wa ló jẹ wa lógún,” he tweeted.

Similarly, Governor Oyebanji detailed ongoing road construction efforts in Ekiti State in his post, reinforcing the importance of infrastructure development for economic growth and ease of movement.

“Àkànse isẹ́ pópónà tó Pin ní ìpínlè Èkìtì, abala àkọ́kọ́ lèyií tó bẹ̀rẹ̀ lósù kókànlá ọ̀dún 2023 nló gbérasọ nìlú Ìwòròkó Èkìtì lèyí tó dé ìlú Àré, Àfàọ̀, Arárọ̀mí Ọ̀bọ̀, tó dé pápákọ̀ òfúrufú ìpínlẹ̀ Èkìtì nló forí só Àsọ̀ Ayegúnlẹ̀ ni pópónà Adó sílu Ìjàn. Tí isẹ́ ọ̀hún bá parí, yóò fòpin sí súnkẹrẹ fàkẹrẹ ọkọ̀ àti àwọn ìpèníjà míràn tí àwọn tón lo pópónà n dojúkọ ní ípínlẹ̀ wa. Also tweeting in Yoruba, the anchor of the Masoyinbo programme, Lekan Fabilola, while urging people to embrace their culture, said there is no joy in not being able to speak one’s indigenous language.

He wrote, “Kò sí ìdùnnú kankan nínú àìlè sọ èdè abínibí ẹni #Yorubadun.”

The ‘YorùbáDùn’ challenge, which has been gaining traction on X for the past few days, encourages netizens to express themselves in Yoruba.
