Suspected bandits have abducted a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Mahrazu Tsiga (retired), along with several residents of Tsiga village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
A resident of the area confirmed the incident to Channels Television via a telephone call on Thursday, stating that the attack occurred on Wednesday night.
The kidnappers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed Tsiga’s residence before taking him and other villagers captive.
Although the Katsina State Government and the police are yet to release an official statement, eyewitnesses confirmed that the former NYSC DG was among those kidnapped.
Sources revealed that during the attack, which lasted only a few minutes, two residents sustained injuries, while one of the gunmen was accidentally shot and killed by his colleagues.
