Abia Govt Unveils Plan to Create 125,000 Jobs

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has said his administration is ready to join hands with investors to develop the state and create jobs for citizens.

Otti stated this at the Government House, Umuahia, during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, for the building of Aba Commercial Smart City, an initiative projected to create 125,000 jobs.

The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, said the project would on completion, launch Aba and the entire state into an industrial centre for sustainable economic development and job creation.

Otti said his administration does not believe in giving handouts to youths and other citizens, but in creating quality employment.

He  called for the continued partnership between the public and private sectors in the development of the state, noting that the synergy between his administration and  private investors recently resulted to 90 days of uninterrupted power supply in Aba.

The Manager, Technical Services, Aba Commercial Smart City, Mr. David Okoro, said the project, which would be built on 140-hectare of land in Osisioma, would create 25, 000 direct jobs and 100,000 indirect jobs in Abia.
