The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) reconvened Monday after a two-week revenue-sharing dispute, approving the distribution of ₦1.969 trillion among the federal, state, and local governments.
The meeting, held at the Federal Ministry of Finance headquarters, ended a deadlock that had stalled the January 20 session and delayed salary payments across ministries, agencies, and parastatals.
State finance commissioners had insisted on revising December 2025 revenue figures before signing off on allocations, leading to two adjournments in less than two weeks.
Following negotiations, the federal government agreed to adjust one disputed line item, clearing the way for ratification. The communiqués confirmed that the distributable revenue included statutory allocations, VAT, exchange gains, and electronic money transfer levies.
Officials said the resolution would allow immediate payment of outstanding salaries for federal and state workers, though ministers and some independent institutions had already received their January entitlements.
The ₦1.969 trillion shared marks one of the largest monthly disbursements in FAAC history, reflecting higher oil receipts and improved non-oil revenue collection.
Analysts noted that the prolonged standoff highlighted persistent tensions between the federal government and states over revenue transparency and distribution formulas.
