The brazen defiance of court orders and police directives by the so-called YES/NO chairmen has crossed from political stubbornness into outright lawlessness. But let’s be brutally honest about what’s really happening here: this isn’t just about defiant local politicians, this is about federal interference, selective law enforcement, and the dangerous weaponization of police power.
The Facts They Can’t Deny
• A subsisting 2022 court order explicitly removed these APC operatives from office
• The police issued clear directives: ALL politicians must stay away from council secretariats
• These directives were meant to allow civil servants (NULGE members) to resume their legitimate duties safely
• Yet these individuals mobilized thugs, stormed the secretariats, and created an atmosphere of intimidation
But Here’s The REAL Question: Why The Double Standard?
The newly elected officials who won their mandates in February 2025 have every constitutional right to challenge this charade. These are individuals with fresh electoral victories, yet they’re being locked out while illegal occupants with expired mandates and adverse court judgments are protected.
The police directive said NO politician should resume, so why are the APC YES/NO chairmen being shielded? Why are they allowed to violate the same directive with impunity?
*Is this what “federal might” looks like?*
When court orders only apply to some people, when police directives are selectively enforced based on party affiliation, when the Inspector General of Police takes an inexplicable “special interest” in local government politics in Osun State something is fundamentally rotten.
What Is The IG’s Interest Here?
Let’s ask the uncomfortable question: What exactly is the Inspector General of Police’s role and interest in this matter?
Why is federal law enforcement machinery being deployed to protect individuals who are:
• Defying court orders
• Violating police directives
• Illegally occupying public office
• Preventing legitimately elected officials from assuming their positions
This stinks of political interference at the highest levels. When the police become tools of partisan protection rather than enforcers of court orders and constitutional governance, we’ve entered dangerous territory.
The Tenure Elongation Crowd:
Your Hypocrisy Is Showing
And to those hiding behind claims of “tenure elongation”—your own case is now before the court. You rushed to court seeking judicial validation for your illegal occupation. Fine.
SO WHY CAN’T YOU WAIT FOR THE JUDGMENT BEFORE TAKING ACTION?
If you truly believe in due process, if you have any shred of respect for the judicial system you’re now invoking, VACATE THE SECRETARIATS and await the court’s decision. You can’t claim to be seeking legal remedy while simultaneously violating existing legal orders.
Your hypocrisy is deafening.
THIS IS NOW A MATTER FOR HIGHER AUTHORITIES
Given the brazen federal interference, the compromised position of law enforcement, and the systematic undermining of Osun State’s democratic institutions, it is time to escalate this matter beyond Nigerian authorities.
We are calling for:
• International monitoring bodies to examine this flagrant abuse of democratic processes
• West African regional institutions (ECOWAS Court) to intervene where Nigerian courts are being defied
• International legal mechanisms to hold accountable those orchestrating this constitutional crisis
• Global democratic watchdogs to document this erosion of rule of law
We can not continue like this. When court orders become suggestions, when police directives are selectively enforced, when federal power is weaponized to protect illegal occupants—Nigeria’s democracy itself is under assault.
A FINAL, NON-NEGOTIABLE DEMAND
You have NO legal right to be there. The courts have spoken. Your defiance is not courage—it is criminality with federal protection.
To the Inspector General of Police: Explain your partisan interest in this matter. Enforce your own directives equally, or admit that you’re compromised.
To the federal authorities enabling this disgrace: History will remember your role in this constitutional crisis.
And to the people of Osun State and Nigeria: Document everything. Record everything. This assault on democracy must not be forgotten.
The time for polite requests has passed. The time for legal niceties with those who mock the law has ended.
VACATE NOW, OR FACE THE FULL WEIGHT OF DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL LEGAL CONSEQUENCES.
