In what can only be described as poetic justice served with a side of irony, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has now turned his legendary combativeness on his former ally, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, for the unforgivable sin of… calling him “Wike.”
Yes, you read that correctly. The same Wike who disrespected his party’s presidential candidate, who undermined PDP’s 2023 election campaign, and who has spent years treating political structures like personal playgrounds, is now clutching his pearls over being addressed by his surname. “It’s disrespectful,” he declared during his Monday media parley in Abuja, apparently forgetting that respect is typically earned, not demanded after you’ve burned down your own house.
The Evil Duo Unmasked
What brought Wike and Makinde together in secret has now exposed them publicly, revealing the true nature of their destructive alliance.
These two men are not just complicit in PDP’s downfall, they are the architects of it. They are the evil forces that have systematically worked to collapse the party from within, all while wearing the party’s badge and collecting its benefits.
Let’s be brutally honest: Wike and Makinde are the primary reasons PDP is where it is today broken, divided, and struggling for relevance. One is obsessed with positioning himself as the perpetual kingmaker and potential flag bearer at the national level, nursing presidential ambitions while sabotaging anyone else’s chance at success. The other has sold his soul to become an errand boy for his paymaster, President Bola Tinubu, actively working to pull down the progress of his own party in exchange for political favors and relevance in the corridors of power.
Their evil schemes, once hidden behind closed-door meetings and coded language, are now on full display for all Nigerians to see. The mask has fallen off, and what we’re witnessing is the inevitable collision of two massive egos who were only ever united by their shared greed, covetousness, and appetite for destruction.
Adeleke’s Narrow Escape: The Red Flags He Saw That Others Missed
Thank God and i say this with genuine relief that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke saw the red flags coming from miles away. While others were being mesmerized by Wike and Makinde’s influence and political muscle, Adeleke looked beyond the surface and recognized the danger these men posed. He saw the trap being set and wisely distanced himself at exactly the right time.
If Governor Adeleke had not taken this bold step when he did, his second-term ticket would have been jeopardized, sabotaged by these same men who are now at each other’s throats. Their greed and covetousness know no bounds. They would have gladly sacrificed Adeleke’s political future on the altar of their personal ambitions and their service to external paymasters.
Look at what’s currently happening in Ekiti State, a perfect case study of Wike and Makinde’s destructive handiwork. As we speak, the name of PDP’s gubernatorial candidate in Ekiti is mysteriously missing from the INEC portal. Don’t believe it? Visit the INEC portal yourself for clarification. This is not rumor or speculation, it’s documented fact. The party’s candidate has been technically erased from the electoral process, and this disaster bears all the fingerprints of internal sabotage orchestrated by the same forces that destroyed PDP’s 2023 presidential bid.
What has happened in Ekiti State would have equally happened in Osun State if Governor Adeleke had not been vigilant and strategic. The same playbook of internal sabotage, the same deliberate undermining of party candidates, the same evil schemes all of it was being prepared for Osun. But Adeleke outsmarted them, saw through their manipulation, and protected both his position and his state’s political future.
While many are now expecting similar sabotage attempts in Osun, there is no cause for panic. Governor Adeleke has already demonstrated that he’s several steps ahead of these political arsonists. He’s secured his position, fortified his support base, and made it clear that he will not be a pawn in anyone’s destructive games.
Remember 2023? When Wike and Makinde formed the infamous G5 Governors, working overtime to ensure their own party lost the presidential election? When they proudly sabotaged Atiku Abubakar’s campaign and smiled while doing it? Those were the good old days when their alliance was strong, united by their shared commitment to political chaos and their determination to prove that their personal grievances mattered more than party victory.
Fast forward to 2025, and the partnership has predictably imploded. What brought them together ego, greed, ambition, and a mutual taste for party destruction is now tearing them apart. The irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife. These two political arsonists are now fighting over who gets to hold the matchbook, while demanding respect and proper titles from each other.
“Go to hell, you didn’t pay my school fees,” Wike reportedly fired back at Makinde during their spat. This is the level of statesmanship we’re dealing with, folks. Two grown men who helped collapse Nigeria’s main opposition party are now engaged in a kindergarten-level name-calling contest over something as petty as how one addresses the other.
The Clear and Present Danger to PDP’s Future
It is now glaringly obvious to anyone paying attention that these two men do not mean well for the PDP. Their actions over the past two years have made this abundantly clear.
One is positioning himself to be the flag bearer of the party at the national level, not through service or party building, but through intimidation, manipulation, and the systematic elimination of rivals.
He wants the crown without earning it, the throne without serving the kingdom.
The other has completely abandoned any pretense of party loyalty. Wike is openly working as an agent for his paymaster, President Tinubu, actively pulling down the progress of PDP in the Southwest and beyond. His mission is clear: keep PDP weak, divided, and ineffective so that APC can continue to dominate. In exchange, he gets political protection, federal favor, and the satisfaction of being relevant in the ruling party’s plans while still nominally remaining in the opposition.
This is why PDP is in crisis. This is why the party that once governed Nigeria for 16 years now struggles to win governorship elections. This is why internal cohesion has been replaced by constant infighting and suspicion.
Wike and Makinde have successfully poisoned the well, and now they’re fighting over who gets to drink from it first.
Ekiti’s Disaster: A Warning for All PDP States
The situation in Ekiti State should serve as a wake-up call for every PDP-controlled state and every party member who still believes in the party’s future. When your gubernatorial candidate’s name is missing from INEC’s portal—not due to administrative error but through deliberate internal sabotage, you know you’re dealing with enemies within your own ranks.
This is the handiwork of Wike and Makinde’s network of influence. They have demonstrated that they will go to any length, including destroying the electoral chances of their own party’s candidates, to maintain their grip on power and satisfy their external benefactors. Ekiti today, who tomorrow? Which state will be the next victim of their scorched-earth politics?
Governor Adeleke recognized this pattern early and took decisive action. He understood that loyalty to these men meant disloyalty to his own political survival and to the people of Osun State who elected him. He chose wisely.
From PDP Wrecker to APC’s Next Headache?
But the comedy doesn’t end with the Wike-Makinde fallout. Fresh from his etiquette lesson to Makinde about proper naming conventions, Wike also recently boasted that if he decided to jump to APC, he’d bring multiple state leaders with him. So let’s get this straight: after contributing massively to PDP’s 2023 electoral disaster, his next target is potentially the APC?
It’s almost admirable in its audacity. Here’s a man who treats political parties like rental cars drive them hard, crash them spectacularly, then move on to the next one. He’s already destroyed PDP from within.
Now he’s threatening to do the same to APC, all while demanding that governors address him with proper ministerial respect.
One has to wonder: does APC leadership understand what they’re inviting because Wike has given his pledge to Tinubu that he will still remain in PDP to get hold of the party for him. They’re looking at a man whose track record includes sabotaging his own party’s presidential candidate, fighting with fellow governors, and creating chaos wherever he plants his flag. But sure, welcome him with open arms. What could possibly go wrong?
The Real Lesson Here
The Wike-Makinde fallout is the perfect illustration of why Nigerian politics often feels like a never-ending soap opera. These aren’t ideological battles or policy disputes they’re ego clashes between powerful men who prioritized personal ambition over party cohesion, and are now shocked to discover that alliances built on opportunism, greed, and external manipulation are inherently unstable.
They worked together to undermine PDP in 2023. They celebrated together when their anti-party activities succeeded. They high-fived each other while their party lost the presidency. And now they’re feuding over first-name usage like feuding celebrities, while the party they helped destroy continues to hemorrhage support and credibility.
Meanwhile, millions of Nigerians are watching this spectacle and wondering when their leaders will focus on actual governance instead of these endless power games, ego trips, and betrayals. We’re tired of the theatrics. We’re exhausted by the constant drama. We’re sick of watching so-called leaders treat political parties as personal properties to be built up or torn down based on individual whims and external payments.
