…Hon Comrade James Onifade fires back at Ex-minister Jelili Adesiyan
Former Minister of Police Affairs Jelili Adesiyan’s reckless allegation that Deji Adeleke, not Governor Ademola Adeleke, is the “real governor” of Osun State isn’t just baseless, it shows that he is suffering from political dementia. His unsubstantiated attacks on a democratically elected governor reveal a man disconnected from reality, facts, and democratic principles.
A Shameless Attack on Democracy
Adesiyan’s dismissive question, “Who is Ademola Adeleke? Can that one become governor?” is an outrageous insult to every Osun voter who participated in the democratic process. Governor Adeleke didn’t seize power he won the PDP primary, contested a credible election, and was chosen by the people of Osun State. For Adesiyan to casually dismiss this electoral mandate exposes his contempt for democracy itself.
Where Is Your Evidence, Adesiyan?
Throughout his rambling interview, Adesiyan offers exactly zero evidence to support his inflammatory claims. Not a single document. Not one policy decision traced to Deji Adeleke. No testimony from government officials. No executive orders bearing someone else’s fingerprints. Nothing.
He calls Deji Adeleke “a capitalist to the core” and claims he wields “influence” so what? Influence is not governance. Business success is not state capture. Having a supportive family member is not corruption. Adesiyan’s entire case rests on insinuation, gossip, and his own deteriorating political judgment.
If Deji Adeleke is truly running Osun State from the shadows, show us the proof. Which commissioners report to him? Which contracts did he personally approve? Which state resources is he controlling? Adesiyan has nothing because nothing exists. This is character assassination masquerading as political commentary.
The Stench of Hypocrisy
Perhaps most disgraceful is Adesiyan’s brazen hypocrisy. He admits he “served under” the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke and worked within that political structure. If family influence was acceptable when he was benefiting from it, why is it suddenly scandalous now? Was Adesiyan blind to this supposed control when he was collecting appointments and enjoying political patronage?
This selective amnesia is pathetic. Adesiyan was perfectly comfortable with the Adeleke family’s political involvement when it advanced his career. Now that he’s on the outside looking in, suddenly the same dynamics constitute shadow governance. This isn’t principled criticism it’s the bitter rantings of a political has-been.
Political Dementia on Full Display
Adesiyan’s disconnection from reality is alarming. He offers no assessment of actual governance in Osun State. He doesn’t mention whether policies are being implemented, whether the state budget is being executed, whether government services are functioning. Why? Because addressing these facts would destroy his narrative.
If Governor Adeleke were truly a puppet, Osun State would be in chaos. There would be visible dysfunction, policy paralysis, governmental confusion. Instead, the state continues to function, programs continue to be implemented, and governance continues. But Adesiyan ignores all of this because facts don’t support his delusional conspiracy theories.
This is textbook political dementia, the inability to distinguish between personal grievances and objective reality, between factional bitterness and legitimate governance concerns.
If Adesiyan possessed actual evidence of corruption or shadow governance, his constitutional duty would be clear: present it to anti-corruption agencies, file formal complaints, provide documentation to appropriate authorities. Instead, he runs to media outlets to make unsubstantiated allegations he knows he cannot prove.
This is the strategy of a coward and a fraud. Make explosive claims in interviews where you face no cross-examination, offer no evidence, accept no accountability. Damage someone’s reputation, undermine public confidence in elected officials, poison the political atmosphere—all without bearing any burden of proof.
The Simple Truth Adesiyan Can’t Accept
Governor Ademola Adeleke was elected by the people of Osun State. He holds the constitutional mandate to govern. He is accountable to Osun voters, not to bitter former appointees nursing political wounds. Whether Adesiyan likes it or not, whether he accepts it or not, Ademola Adeleke is the legitimate governor.
Every elected official consults family, friends, advisors, and supporters. This is normal governance, not conspiracy.
Until Adesiyan provides actual evidence not rumors, not feelings, not personal resentment, but concrete proof, his allegations are worthless political theater.
Jelili Adesiyan owes Governor Ademola Adeleke and the people of Osun State an apology. His reckless, evidence-free accusations are an assault on democratic governance and an insult to millions of voters. If he cannot produce proof of his claims, he should withdraw them immediately.
Osun State deserves better than this kind of gutter politics. Governor Adeleke deserves the respect due to an elected official. And the public deserves political commentary based on facts, not the demented fantasies of a disgruntled former minister whose time has clearly passed.
The burden of proof lies entirely with Adesiyan. He has produced nothing. His claims are worthless. His credibility is destroyed. And his political dementia is now on full public display.
