…Hon. Comrade James Onifade salutes Gov. Ademola Adeleke

In times of crisis, true leadership is measured not by words alone, but by the speed and effectiveness of response. Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has demonstrated precisely this quality in addressing the recent security challenges facing border communities in the state.

Few days ago, as contained in my last address over the invasion of bandits in Ora Igbomina border which led to the abduction of one ex-customs officer and other travelers, we raised the alarm about the deteriorating security situation. We were able to channel these concerns directly to the government, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.

Thank God, today the governor has shown he has a listening ear and has taken decisive action on it, giving rest to what was a growing nightmare for our people.

Within hours of the unfortunate banditry incident in Ora Igbomina, Governor Adeleke convened an emergency security council meeting, bringing together commanders from the police, army, DSS, and other paramilitary agencies.

This immediate response reflects a leader who understands that security concerns demand urgent attention and coordinated action. More importantly, it demonstrates a leader who listens to the cries of his people and acts swiftly to address their concerns.

The governor’s three-pronged approach to the crisis deserves particular commendation. First, his deployment of military backed rescue operations shows a commitment to immediate intervention.

Second, his long-term vision is evident in the planned deployment of refurbished armored tanks and procurement of patrol vehicles to strengthen security infrastructure across the state.

Third, his insistence on proper coordination between Amotekun and police forces addresses a critical gap that had previously weakened security operations.

Governor Adeleke’s directive for Amotekun to work in synergy with the police, rather than operating in silos, represents a pragmatic reform that will enhance the effectiveness of security services in Osun State. His willingness to learn from past incidents while maintaining support for the Amotekun service demonstrates balanced leadership that values both accountability and operational necessity.

The governor’s transparency in acknowledging security breaches, despite existing preventive measures, shows a leader who chooses honesty over political posturing. His practical advice to citizens about reducing late-night activities during this period further demonstrates his concern for public safety beyond mere security deployments.

This swift response to our earlier concerns has shown good signs of leadership and genuine commitment to the welfare of Osun people. When a leader listens and acts decisively in times of crisis, it reassures citizens that they are not alone in their struggles.

This responsive governance will enable us to believe that God sent to Osun is indeed Gov Ademola Adeleke a leader who doesn’t just hear but listens, who doesn’t just promise but delivers.

As Osun State faces these security challenges along its borders, Governor Adeleke’s proactive measures in fortifying defenses and coordinating multiple security agencies provide reassurance to residents. His approach combines immediate tactical response with strategic long-term planning, a combination that bodes well for the state’s security architecture.

Given this demonstrated capacity for crisis management, his listening ear to concerned citizens, and his commitment to the safety of Osun people, the governor’s return for a second term would ensure continuity in these vital security initiatives and allow the full implementation of his comprehensive security reforms.
